A LIFE SPENT DEFENDING LIFE
Dr. Luisella Troyer was born in Milan in 1964, and after graduating from the ‘G. Berchet’ Classical High School, she graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery in 1990 from theUniversity of Milan.
In 1998, she obtained a Specialist Diploma in Vascular Surgery at theUniversity of Modena, and then began practising as an Angiologist at the‘S. Pio X’ Treatment Centre  in Milan.
His scientific career immediately focused on vascular pathologies of the lower limbs, both venous and arterial, as well as on surgical therapies to resolve prolapsed haemorrhoids.
In the mid-1990s, together with German colleagues, she was one of the first doctors to assume the existence of apathology of the panniculus adiposus unrelated to obesity and decided on a genetic basis, which is now known as lipedema.
In 1999, he began his in-depth study of lymphatic pathologies, joining the Casa di Cura ‘Santa Rita’ in Milan, now known asIstituto Clinico Città Studi, as a Vascular Surgeon, becoming Head of the Rehabilitation Day Hospital for Phlebo-Lymphology.
In 2006 he obtained a Master ‘ s Degree in ’Oncological Lymphology" at the Istituto dei Tumori in Milan, while in 2008 he began teaching Phlebolymphology and Deep Vein Thrombosis Therapy at the Rehabilitation Department of the San Giuseppe Hospital in Milan.
From May 2008 to September 2022 he is Head of the Lymphology Department at the Motor Rehabilitation Centre in Milan.
In 2020, following the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, Dr. joined the emergency team at the Istituto Clinico Città Studi, where she perfected her skills in the supportive treatment of infected patients.
Since 2021, the Doctor has been working as a Vascular Surgeon at the Emergency Department of the Diabetic Foot at the Istituto Clinico Città Studi, where she is responsible for the treatment, including amputation, of severe ulcers in diabetic patients.
PROCTOLOGY PRACTICE AND RESEARCH
Dr Luisella Troyer honed her skills in Colonproctology already during her specialisation in Vascular Surgery, having participated in over 1,000 operations as first operator in Milligan-Morgan haemorrhoidectomies.
His scientific research has particularly focused on respecting anorectal tissues, minimally invasive excision of haemorrhoids and ensuring minimal post-operative discomfort for the patient .
His medical research has not only stopped at the surgical part, but also encompasses all the dietary, nutritional and rehabilitation research needed to treat both low-grade haemorrhoids and chronic constipation, which is often the trigger for haemorrhoidal prolapse.

Dr. Luisella Troyer is a Vascular Surgeon, specialising in Vascular Surgery and Proctology.
Since her training as a resident, Dr. Troyer has been interested in the study and treatment of proctological pathologies, especially haemorrhoids and haemorrhoid prolapses.
In the course of his practice as a Surgeon, he has accumulated about 5000 operating theatre hours as a first operator, of which about 120 were Milligan-Morgan haemorrhoidectomies.
He is one of the first Doctors to have studied and experimented with scleromousse therapy for pathological haemorrhoids, which he has judged to be the treatment of choice for the non-traumatic treatment of haemorrhoidal prolapses, with resolution statistics of over 95% and therefore often comparable with surgical access.
